#2 What are "Easy" & What are "Hard" in True Learning

7 ½ Habits for Highly Successful Life-long Learners ---

What are “Easy” to me:It is easy to set a goal in mind, even in writing. Just like “New Year Resolutions”, for years they could be the same goal unachieved. But it is better than none. #1.

  1. Taking responsibility for my learning is not hard; for instance I attended college evening classes for music out of my own initiative. #2.
  2. Creating my own learning tools such as buying softwares and books that I plan to learn is always a pleasure. My tools are always ready. Buying tools is one of the most exciting part and happy moment of learning. #5.
  3. All technologies that is available to me will be used to assist my learning process. #6.
  4. Sharing with/mentoring/teaching others what I learn is easy. I was a teacher and know pretty well how to make learning really happen to "students". #7.
  5. It is always fun to play around with what was learned. For instance, after learning the basics of Adobe Photoshop I edited some family photos with the software. #7 ½.

What are “Hard” to me:If the learning task is not in school, or not urgent for work, I tend not to learn according to a strict schedule; learning progresses very slowly; it can be interrupted for anything more interesting than learning; sometimes stopped for good for some seemingly big challenges. On the other hand if it is school or work assignment, this kind of motivation is strong enough for me to complete tasks on time with efficiency. #3.

  1. Confidence is great at the start of a task; it dwindles as the task becomes more and more complicated. I believe self to be a good learner, however, it needs to make efforts to be an effective and competent one. #4.
**How do you think of the 7 ½ Habits? Your comments are welcome and thanks in advance.

(Note: while editing “Layout” last night, the original response post on 9/26/07 together with 4 comment posts were lost including one by Logan Ragsdale and one by Hood_and_Hat (Thanks a lot, Logan and Karen}. The above is a recall and a little modification of the previous post. I learned a lesson. This time I did it on Word and saved it on local.)
